Lena Point the day before more snow

You may have noticed a new background on the blog - I just figured that I could do that and how to do it!  :)

Clouds are covering the bigger mountains in the background

No snow on the road, just some mud puddles

New smells

The lack of snow did not last long, but it was nice while it lasted!

Cloud bank behind the mountains

Such a beautiful day - hope that's not a storm brewing.  It's hard to believe it's mid-February in Alaska with the sunshine and lack of snow!

UPDATE - Yes the next day we got several inches of snow - back to winter for now.

Face plants

While playing ball in fresh snow, the dogs end up with snow all over their faces as they dive for the balls.  We have lost quite a few balls if the snow is very deep.

Eagle eye

There were actually two eagles flying back and forth between trees while we were walking at Sandy beach.  A woman with a small dog said she was keeping her eye on them, and was glad to play beside my three labs :)

Austrian dinner

On the evening of the winter storm, at an already planned event, an Austrian co-worker and her husband treated our group fo consultants to an authentic Austrian dinner.  The menu consisted of cabbage strudel, beef goulash, spaetzle (love this pasta), four different salads and a tiramisu-like dessert made with lady fingers, chocolate pudding and canned apricots.

Keely and me

The storm covered the city (and our cars) in ice for a few days, but it is now above freezing again and everything is melting.  It's a good thing.

This video shows how Micky, Frank and Keely made the spaetzle:
